Swiss amusement park Conny-Land is preparing to make history with its biggest-ever single attraction investment, a record-breaking roller coaster set to open in 2027.
Named Massai, the custom-built ride will become the fastest and longest coaster in Switzerland.
Manufactured by renowned German ride builder Mack Rides, Massai represents a total investment of 20 million Swiss francs, which is around £13.2 million.

Park owner Roby Gasser ordered the coaster nearly three years ago, framing the massive project as a personal retirement gift to himself and his guests, though he remains fully committed to running the park.
Breaking Swiss Records
Conny-Land, located near Lipperswil, currently welcomes around 300,000 visitors anually, and Gasser notes that the park is intentionally targeting younger visitors with this addition.
While the park is already home to the unique Cobra roller coaster, which has held local speed records since 2010, Massai is poised to take over as the definitive headline attraction. Cobra reaches 85 km/h but features a short 230-metre track. Massai will eclipse this significantly, offering more than double the length and a higher top speed. Massai will be powered by a LSM launch system, a catapult technology similar to Europa-Park's Voltron Nevera.
Key technical specifications for the new coaster include:
- Track Length: 500 metres (1,640.4 feet)
- Maximum Height: 22 metres (72.2 feet)
- Top Speed: 86 km/h (53.4 mph)
- Capacity: 16 passengers per train
- Inversions: 4 distinct upside-down moments
- Launch Type: Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM)
The Ride Experience
The ride utilises Mack Rides' popular Big Dipper model, which features specialised trains where outer seats extend beyond the sides of the track to offer an open, floorless sensation.
The adventure begins straight out of the station with that powerful LSM launch. The train accelerates rapidly to 86 km/h, sending riders flying past the park's existing "Crazy Professor" indoor drop tower.
The custom layout sends passengers through four distinct inversions. Gasser highlighted a standout element where passengers hang completely upside down for several seconds before continuing the journey in an upright position. Coaster enthusiasts are already calling this signature feature the "Conny-Land-Loop." Following this gravity-defying element, a final classic loop brings the intense journey to a spectacular finish.
Immersive African Theming and Timeline
The attraction is heavily inspired by East African culture and takes its name from the Maasai people. Conny-Land plans to fully immerse guests in this theme across the entire ride area.
Concept visuals highlight an extensively styled landscape featuring traditional huts, detailed figures, and African-inspired masks that will line the pathways and queue lines.
Track assembly begins imminently, with the on-site installation is being handled by specialised coaster assembly firm RCS.
Conny-Land plans to run the first official test cycles in the spring of 2027, with the grand opening officially scheduled later in the 2027 season.
