Disneyland Paris has unveiled exciting new details regarding the highly anticipated The Lion King attraction currently under construction at Disney Adventure World.

The new attraction will feature the debut of the first ever Audio-Animatronics figure of the iconic villain, Scar. The ride scene draws direct inspiration from the thrilling climax of the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.

Revealed during the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, new concept art showcases a dramatic confrontation scene where the treacherous villain stands in Simba's path.

A Spectacular Water Adventure

The new water based attraction will serve as the centrepiece of the first fully immersive land dedicated to The Lion King. In the ride, families will embark on a journey through iconic scenes from the film, brought to life through state of the art visual effects, the beloved soundtrack, and Audio-Animatronics figures of Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and Scar.

The new adventure will navigate an exciting path featuring three exhilarating drops, culminating in an impressive 16-metre descent from the iconic Pride Rock.

Creating the African Savannah

The entire zone will cover more than 30,000 square metres once completed. Alongside the flagship attraction, guests will find a new themed boutique, a dining location, and opportunities for unforgettable character appearances.

Creating an authentic African savannah in France has presented unique challenges for Walt Disney Imagineering. The team is carefully pruning and sculpting European trees to recreate the iconic flat topped silhouettes of acacias that cannot grow in the French climate. Additionally, animal paw prints are being embedded into the sunbaked earth to make it feel as if wildlife had wandered through the land long before guests arrived.

"The teams at Walt Disney Imagineering, Disneyland Paris and Disney Animation are hard at work bringing to life the beloved world of The Lion King, which has captivated audiences for more than three decades," said Michel den Dulk, Vice President Portfolio Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering Paris. "We believe this epic story was also embraced thanks to its unforgettable villain, so we are excited to lift the curtain on Scar's presence in this major attraction. Thanks to an extraordinary level of detail, our guests will experience the very heart of the film's story, its emotion and thrills, in an entirely new way."

Construction Updates and More to Come

Construction on the area began in autumn 2025, and foundation work is now complete on the banks of Adventure Bay near the World of Frozen. The area is already beginning to take shape, with the first building structures currently rising from the ground.

In addition to The Lion King updates, Disneyland Paris confirmed that the Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will open next year. This charming family experience, inspired by Disney and Pixar's Up, will be located on Adventure Way just across from the recently opened Raiponce Tangled Spin.
