Austria’s largest theme park, Familypark, has celebrated the grand opening of its highly anticipated new attraction, Rotonda.
Around 60 invited guests from local politics, media, and business gathered in St. Margarethen to be amongst the very first to experience a unique ride concept that is completely new to the country.
Rotonda is a Disk'O Coaster from Zamperla that offers a dynamic ride experience, combining rapid spinning movements with sweeping wave-like motions. The result is a thrilling sensation of weightlessness and lightness, delivering a brand new style of family friendly excitement to Austrian theme park fans.
Beautifully integrated into its surroundings, the attraction is themed entirely around the world of winegrowing. Visitors will discover Mediterranean architecture, vibrant colourful details, and numerous design elements that reflect the rich culture of the local region. This stunningly designed area serves as a direct homage to the park's beautiful regional home.
Filip de Witte, Managing Director of Familypark, said:
"With the Rotonda, we are creating a ride experience that surprises and delights our guests while perfectly complementing the character of Familypark. The elaborately designed wine themed area is also a clear commitment to the Neusiedler See region, which has always been a defining feature of Familypark. This investment is another step in the modernisation and further development of our park as a unique leisure destination in Austria."
The grand opening completes a wider transformation of this section of the park. At Easter, Familypark introduced the Wilder Winzer (Wild Winemaker), a companion ride designed specifically for younger visitors. Situated within the same wine themed zone, the two attractions now form a cohesive, immersive adventure area that caters perfectly to families with children of all different ages.

The multi million euro development also represents a major boost for the local economy, as operating company Compagnie des Alpes invested approximately €4.7 million into the project, actively choosing to collaborate with numerous regional and Austrian businesses to ensure a significant portion of the economic value remains within Burgenland.
Harald Schermann, Director of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce, praised the development as an important milestone for the region:
"With its regular investments, Familypark provides strong impetus for the entire region. It is particularly gratifying that numerous regional trades are involved in projects of this magnitude. This collaboration creates added value, secures jobs, and demonstrates how closely tourism development and regional economic strength are linked."
Voted as "Austria's Best Theme Park" in a recent customer survey, Familypark continues to cement its reputation as a leading European leisure destination. Spanning four beautifully themed areas, the theme park features over 30 rides and attractions, welcoming around 700,000 visitors each year.
The addition of both Rotonda and Wilder Winzer highlights the park's ongoing commitment to delivering high quality, fresh experiences for families, making 2026 the perfect time to plan a visit.
