Bobbejaanland has confirmed that 2027 will mark one of the most important milestones in the park’s history, with three new Nickelodeon attractions set to open.
The long‑established Belgian theme park will completely redevelop the children’s area near the main entrance, transforming it into a Nickelodeon‑themed family zone featuring three new attractions, extensive theming, retail and dining.
Nickelodeon characters have been present at Bobbejaanland for several years through shows and meet‑and‑greets, but from spring 2027, their Paramount partnership will take a major step forward with a dedicated area bringing together SpongeBob SquarePants, his Bikini Bottom friends, and Garfield.
One of the largest investments in park history
Bobbejaanland General Manager Yves Peeters describes the project as a defining moment for the park:
“Next year, Bobbejaanland will have been a true family park for exactly 65 years. With this investment, we confirm that we want to remain that way. There’s always something for the whole family to enjoy. We have the ambition to continue growing, and we’re convinced we can do so, especially with a partner like Paramount and one of the largest investments ever.”
Construction work is scheduled to begin in autumn 2026, with the new zone opening to guests in spring 2027.

Three new family attractions
The redevelopment will replace or relocate existing rides to make room for three new attractions aimed squarely at families with children.
Plankton Power – Wild Swing
The first major change will see the removal of Flying Orca, which has operated since 2002. In its place, Bobbejaanland will install a Wild Swing from German manufacturer ART Engineering.
-
Capacity: 18 riders
-
Height: 12 metres
The family attraction will be themed around Plankton, who is attempting to take over the world using a jellyfish‑powered invention. Guests are invited to take part in his experiment, swinging high through the air in Plankton Power.
Splash Down – Big WaveZ
The park’s classic Chain Mill (Kettingmolen) will be relocated elsewhere in Bobbejaanland, making way for a standout new water attraction. Splash Down will be a Big WaveZ ride from Zamperla, standing 21 metres tall.
-
Capacity: 20 riders seated side‑by‑side
-
Drop height: creates a wave up to 10 metres high
Marketed as unique in Europe, the attraction lifts riders into the air before plunging them downwards, sending a dramatic splash over the surrounding area. The storyline places SpongeBob SquarePants at the centre of a diving competition at Mussel Beach, with Larry the Lobster and Patrick joining the fun.
Garfield’s Birthday Surprise – family free‑fall tower
Completing the trio is a 15‑metre‑high family free‑fall tower, also supplied by Zamperla. This attraction will be themed to Garfield, who is celebrating his birthday every day at Bobbejaanland.
In the story, Odie and Jon have hidden a giant birthday cake at the top of the tower. Children and families join Garfield on the mission to retrieve it, before plunging back down in Garfield’s Birthday Surprise.
A fully themed Nickelodeon zone
The new area, named Nick Central, will offer much more than just rides. According to Peggy Verelst, Commercial and Creative Director, the zone is designed as an active and immersive space for families:
-
Interactive walk‑through elements, including jellyfish obstacles and themed photo spots
-
Sandy Cheeks’ Hydro Lab, where guests can shoot water targets
-
Character meet‑and‑greets throughout the area
-
YUM YUM GO! quick‑service food location
-
The Nick Shop for exclusive merchandise
Opening in spring 2027
With its combination of established IPs, family‑friendly attractions and extensive theming, the Nickelodeon area represents a major evolution for Bobbejaanland’s entrance area.
Bobbejaanland will be sharing construction updates via its social media channels as work progresses through 2026 and into 2027.
