Disneyland Paris has finally confirmed that the upcoming family attraction inspired by Pixar’s Up will be named Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings.
Scheduled to open in 2027, the ride will be another step in the ongoing transformation of the previous Walt Disney Studios Park into the newly reimagined Disney Adventure World.
Located along Adventure Way, the attraction will sit directly opposite Raiponce Tangled Spin. While the ride mechanism is a familiar classic, Disney is promising a high level of thematic detail that will transport guests into the animated world of Carl, Russell, and Dug.
A Fresh Take on a Fairground Classic
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will be a classic flying chair carousel, a staple of traditional European theme parks for over a century.
The ride will feature 48 chairs providing 64 total seats, including duo chairs that allow guests to fly in pairs. As the carousel rotates, the top dome will tilt, creating a more intense sensation of flight and providing a dynamic visual for guests walking along Adventure Way.
The design will blend Art Nouveau elegance with industrial wrought iron arches, decorated with balloon and cloud motifs that echo the film’s visual style.
Earning Your Aviation’Badge
The storyline of the attraction invites guests to join the Wilderness Explorers club to earn their Aviation badge. The overall experience begins in the queue, which is divided into four zones that recreate key moments from the film. Fans should keep an eye out for iconic props, including Ellie’s My Adventure Book and Carl’s childhood aviator helmet.
Adding a touch of Disney magic to the skyline, the top of the attraction will be crowned with a golden spike featuring the silhouette of Carl and Ellie’s house. This mirrors the silhouette of Pascal found on the rooftop of the neighboring Tangled attraction.
The Transformation to Disney Adventure World
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings is part of a wider expansion strategy. Surrounded by a new themed garden inspired by the landscapes of South America seen in Up, the attraction aims to provide a charming, nostalgic experience for families before they venture further into larger immersive lands like World of Frozen.
Construction officially began in November 2025, and with a confirmed 2027 opening date, it's another piece of the puzzle in this phase of the park's massive rebranding and expansion project.
