MagicLand has announced a landmark partnership with renowned ride manufacturer Martin & Vleminckx that will see Italy’s first-ever wooden roller coaster debut at the park in 2027.
The agreement marks a major milestone not only for MagicLand, but for the wider Italian and European theme park industry.
The new attraction will form a central part of the park’s ambitious multi-year investment and development strategy that will strengthen the park's position as one of Europe’s leading entertainment destinations.
A First-of-Its-Kind Attraction for Italy
Located in Valmontone near Rome, MagicLand is the largest amusement park in Central and Southern Italy. The upcoming wooden roller coaster — scheduled to open in March 2027 — will be the first installation of its kind in the country, introducing a ride style long celebrated internationally but until now absent from Italy’s theme park landscape.
The project will be delivered by Martin & Vleminckx Ltd (MV Rides), a global specialist in the manufacturing and construction of wooden roller coasters, with the ride itself designed by The Gravity Group / Gravitykraft Corporation. Together, the companies aim to blend traditional wooden coaster appeal with modern engineering techniques.
According to the announcement, the coaster will feature a modern engineered timber structure, designed to provide a smoother and more dynamic ride experience while retaining the distinctive character associated with classic wooden coasters. Full details, including layout and theming, are expected to be revealed progressively throughout 2026.
Strategic Investment in MagicLand’s Future
The wooden roller coaster is backed by a €15 million investment and represents a key pillar of MagicLand’s long-term development plan. The park is currently undergoing one of the most significant expansion phases in its history.
Alongside the new coaster, MagicLand has confirmed that 2026 will see major additions to MagicSplash, its Caribbean-themed water park, including new large-scale slides and guest experience enhancements across the wider resort. These developments are part of a broader investment programme intended to accelerate growth and enhance the park’s competitiveness on a European scale.
Guido Zucchi, CEO of MagicLand, described the partnership as a defining moment for the park’s evolution:
“Working with Martin & Vleminckx allows us to introduce an attraction that is truly unique for Italy and highly distinctive on a European scale. This project underscores our commitment to continuous innovation and our ambition to offer memorable, high-quality experiences to guests of all ages.”
A Turning Point for the Italian Amusement Industry
Martin & Vleminckx’s entry into the Italian market represents a significant step for the country’s amusement industry, bringing with it internationally proven expertise in wooden coaster construction and delivery.
Chuck Bingham, Senior Executive Vice President and Sales Director at Martin & Vleminckx, highlighted the importance of the project:
“Partnering with MagicLand has allowed us to fuse bold design, precision engineering, and beautiful theming to create an experience that will redefine thrills for guests.”
Strengthening MagicLand’s Growing Reputation
In recent years, MagicLand has established itself as a key player in Italy’s leisure market, supported by continuous investment and a strong focus on seasonal events. The park is now widely recognised for hosting some of the country’s most elaborate Halloween and Christmas celebrations, supported by creative collaborations such as its partnership with Il Regno di Babbo Natale.
With the addition of Italy’s first wooden roller coaster, MagicLand is set to further enhance its attraction line-up and reinforce its reputation as one of the nation’s most dynamic and fast-growing theme park resorts.
