A brand-new roller coaster is now open at Vienna’s iconic Wurstelprater amusement park.

Wiener Looping, a thrilling BigDipper coaster designed by Julian Omonsky (Monsieur Sky) and manufactured by renowned German company Mack Rides, promises to offer an adrenaline-packed experience for visitors of all ages.

The roller coaster's specifications have been revealed, showcasing its impressive design. Standing at a maximum height of 31 metres, Wiener Looping reaches speeds of up to 81 km/h along its 518-metre track.

Wiener Looping, owned and operated by Wiener Prater Koidls, is named after the original ride of the same name, a modified Shuttle Loop manufactured by Anton Schwarzkopf. The new roller coaster will feature two trains, each with a capacity for up to eight riders, and will be equipped with lap bars for added safety. To ensure everyone can join the excitement, riders must be at least 1.3 metres tall.

The experience will begin before passengers board the ride. In the queue, a combination of visual and audio installations will build anticipation and heighten the excitement. Once aboard, riders will be lifted to the peak of 31 metres at a swift pace of 4 metres per second, offering a brief but stunning view of Vienna’s Prater before the action begins.

After the initial climb, the new roller coaster takes riders through a slow 180-degree turn, providing a panoramic vista of the surrounding park. The excitement intensifies as the train plunges down a 92-degree drop, creating the sensation of free-fall. What follows is an airtime hill, followed by a banana roll – a curved loop that adds a unique twist to the experience. This is followed by a classic loop, further ramping up the thrill.

But the adventure doesn’t end there, as riders are then taken through a dive loop, a steep curve that accelerates the train before it spirals into a helix. The ride’s finale includes a final airtime hill, followed by a 180-degree turn that leads into a silent magnetic brake, where the coaster gradually comes to a stop.

With its combination of thrilling elements, innovative technology, and a commitment to reducing noise pollution, Wiener Looping is a standout addition to Wurstelprater.
