PortAventura World has announced two new family attractions set to open in summer 2026, expanding both Caribe Aquatic Park and PortAventura Park.
Revealed during FITUR 2026, the projects focus on family audiences and immersive outdoor experiences, with one attraction to be unique in Europe.
The new additions are Coral Bay, The Lost Legend, a large-scale expansion of the Caribe Aquatic Park, and Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek, a new exploration trail in the park’s Polynesia area.
Coral Bay, The Lost Legend – major Caribe Aquatic Park expansion
The headline project for 2026 is Coral Bay, The Lost Legend, a new 6,000 m² themed family area at the Caribe Aquatic Park. According to PortAventura World, the area is themed to a pirate bay that was submerged for centuries before re-emerging from the ocean.
The expansion will include:
-
A family water coaster, described as unique in Europe
-
An adventure pool featuring a world-exclusive aquatic obstacle course
-
Additional water slides aimed at families
-
A new food and beverage outlet within the area
With this addition, PortAventura World aims to further strengthen Caribe Aquatic Park’s position as one of Europe’s leading family-oriented water parks. Concept artwork shows a heavily themed environment designed to blend water play with adventure storytelling.
Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek – new experience in Polynesia
The second new attraction, Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek, will open inside the Polynesia area of PortAventura Park. Rather than being a ride, it is an outdoor adventure trail that encourages guests to explore the jungle environment.
The experience will feature:
-
Elevated walkways
-
Hanging bridges
-
Nature-integrated obstacles and challenges
PortAventura World describes Makamanu as a return to the original spirit of the Polynesia area, but reimagined as a more active and participatory experience. The name “Makamanu” is inspired by Polynesian mythology and refers to a “bird’s gaze,” reflecting the attraction’s elevated paths and exploration theme.
Focus on family audiences
Fernando Aldecoa, General Manager of PortAventura World, said the new projects reflect the resort’s ongoing strategy of evolving its offer through guest feedback and multi-generational experiences:
“We listen to our customers, and the new features we’re announcing for 2026 reflect our dedication to continuing to surprise them, creating unique moments for all audiences.”
Both attractions are scheduled to open in summer 2026 and are positioned as family-friendly experiences combining immersion, adventure, and outdoor activity rather than high-intensity thrills.
