Walibi Belgium has unveiled the next major phase of its long-term masterplan, headlined by a record-breaking hybrid roller coaster set to debut in 2028.

Developed in partnership with the industry-renowned American manufacturer Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), the ride will serve as the anchor attraction for a brand-new immersive zone called Festival World.

The project marks the end of an era for the park’s classic wooden coaster, Loup-Garou (Weerwolf). The 2026 season will be the final opportunity for guests to experience the traditional wooden ride in its current form. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2027 ahead of the grand reopening the following year.

A Record-Breaking Redesign

RMC will utilise its signature steel track technology on Loup-Garou's existing wooden support structure, transforming the ride into a smooth, high-thrill hybrid experience.

The newly reimagined coaster will boast a selection of record-breaking statistics for the region:

  • Height: 49 metres
  • Drop: 47 metres at a near-vertical 89-degree angle
  • Top Speed: 106 km/h
  • Track Length: 1,231 metres (a new Benelux record)
  • World Firsts: The layout will include three unique elements never before seen on any roller coaster globally.

The park aims to position the attraction among the very best roller coasters in the world, reinforcing Walibi Belgium’s commitment to delivering international-tier experiences.

The Evolution of Festival World

The new coaster represents the first phase of Festival World, an immersive land designed to capture the vibrant, festive atmosphere of New Orleans.

A second development phase will follow in 2030 to complete the zone. This final stage will introduce:

  • Re-theming for several existing attractions
  • New food and beverage outlets, including a large theme restaurant
  • Family-friendly free-fall drop towers
  • A dedicated water play area

A Decade of Growth

This major investment continues a masterplan originally launched in 2016. Over the past decade, Walibi Belgium has introduced four themed lands, eight new rides, eight dining outlets, and three retail shops. The adjacent Aqualibi water park also expanded with the additions of Kiddie Bay, Surf Bay, and a new outdoor area.

This aggressive expansion strategy has driven a 43% increase in total attendance, lifting annual visitor numbers from 1.3 million to more than 1.8 million.

"This new phase is a direct continuation of the transformation initiated in 2016," said Jean-Christophe Parent, Managing Director of Walibi Belgium – Aqualibi. "Our ambition is to further strengthen the appeal of Walibi Belgium and Aqualibi by offering ever more immersive, spectacular, and accessible experiences for the entire family."

The expansion aligns with a broader corporate strategy announced in December 2025 by parent company Compagnie des Alpes, which prioritises guest experience, sustainability, energy efficiency, and the gradual evolution of its leisure destinations.
