Efteling has confirmed that its popular Raveleijn themed area will reopen its gates on 1 December, following a closure of nearly a year.

The Dutch theme park has released new sketches, a teaser video, and further details regarding the ambitious overhaul, which represents a total investment of €20 million.

Visitors heading to the park will be able to experience the completely renovated city and the new park show, Raveleijn: Battle for the City, which promises an array of spectacular stunts. The extensive project has been divided into three key investment areas: €10 million dedicated to the new show, €5 million for the area's overall renovation, and €5 million in creating a new attraction.

A €20 Million Transformation

Koen Sanders, Director of Product, Marketing & Image at Efteling, explained the scope of the project:

"The sets have been extensively revamped and Raveleijn is getting a brand-new show packed with spectacular stunts, created in collaboration with the French theme park Puy du Fou. At the heart of the story: when evil arises, the heroes of Raveleijn join forces."

Since opening in 2011, the story of five ordinary children passing through a secret gate to transform into brave riders defending a city against evil has become a firm favourite among visitors. More than fifteen years after its initial debut, the narrative is being revived.

The new show, Raveleijn - Battle for the City, is set a decade after the victory over the dragon Draconicon and the villain Olaf Grafhart. While peace has reigned, a dark force disrupts the wedding celebrations of Thomas and Samira, triggering a new battle as the statue of Countess Halina watches over the square.

New Attraction: Ravenring

Situated just outside the city walls in the encampment is the brand-new attraction, Ravenring, developed by Dutch ride manufacturer Vekoma. Designed to test the courage of future heroes, the whirling flight ritual helps guests discover which of the five magical elements suits them best. The ride features 18 winged vehicles inspired by the Raveleijn ravens, accommodating a total of 36 visitors per flight.

Refreshed Dining and Shopping

The visitor experience is further enhanced by new amenities within the themed area. De Verslaeghen Draek Inn, located on the main square, will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a menu inspired by international travellers' recipes and ingredients, alongside a slice of Thomas and Samira’s wedding cake.

Meanwhile, the new retail outlet In den Ravenkorf will stock dressing-up costumes, toys, and merchandise. Centred around a large raven’s nest with hidden ravens nestled among the wooden beams, the shop also offers guests the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the heroes of Raveleijn.
