Särkänniemi in Tampere, Finland, has officially launched its largest investment of the decade for the 2026 summer season.
Named Konect, this unique family roller coaster has been custom-designed specifically for the park by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma, making it a completely one-of-a-kind attraction.
Redefining the Tampere Skyline
Särkänniemi says that Konect serves as "a tribute to the city of Tampere, celebrating a history of forward-thinking transport and shared community moments". The new structure significantly alters the theme park’s skyline, spreading directly across the existing Troika, X, and Tyrsky attraction areas.
Riders are treated to panoramic views of world-class local landmarks during the experience. The layout provides sweeping vistas of the iconic, sky-reaching Näsinneula observation tower as well as the expansive Lake Näsijärvi. The track layout is highly dynamic, running directly above the busy amusement park and skimming closely along the natural shoreline of the lake.
Breaking European Records
The ride stands out as a major milestone for family-oriented attractions in Europe. Vekoma has constructed the layout to be the longest family roller coaster the company has ever built on the continent, measuring 525 metres in length. It also takes the title of the highest-rising family coaster in its specific class, reaching a peak height of 27 metres and hitting a top speed of approximately 68 km/h.
Unlocking Multi-Generational Thrills
A core objective of the investment is inclusivity, allowing large families and groups to share the experience together. Konect marks a major milestone for the region as the first major roller coaster in Finland that can accommodate children as short as 100 cm, provided they are accompanied by an adult.
The full rider requirements established for the attraction are:
- Minimum height with an adult: 100 cm
- Minimum height to ride alone: 120 cm
- Minimum age to ride alone: 6 years old
By bridging the gap between small children, teenagers, parents, and grandparents, Konect can deliver a level of thrilling fun that can be experienced collectively.
