Energylandia in Poland has announced that Europe's tallest hybrid roller coaster will open at the theme park in 2020. The new ride will be over 60 metres (196.8 ft) tall, 1300 metres (4265 ft) long and reach a top speed of 115 km/h (71.5 mph).

Zadra (the Polish for splinter) will feature 3 inversions, including a Zero-G roll and an inverted airtime hill.

The theme park opened as recently as 2014 and already includes 70 rides and attractions over 26 hectares.

The new hybrid roller coaster will be part of a new area at the theme park called Smoczy Gród, an area reminiscent of the legendary town from the fairy tale of dragons, inspired by medieval architecture.

Visitors will be able to explore a street from that period, a castle and ruins, all finished with stone and wood. The style and themed elements will be inspired by films such as 'Lord of the Rings', 'The Witcher' and 'Robin Hood', therefore there will be torches, smoky and fire-blackened decorative elements.

In addition to Zadra, the new area will be developed with other attractions including:

  • Dark Ride - an interactive journey to the medieval times of knights and dragons.
  • Mini Monorail - stylised as medieval carriages leading through the dragon's land.
  • Junior Coaster
  • Dragon Castle

Here visitors will also find 5 food and drink outlets, 1 large and 2 small shops, 3 games areas, 2 photo points, as well as some small educational attractions.

Rocky Mountain Construction will build the new hybrid roller coaster using their steel IBox track on a wooden structure. For this reason, Energylandia are calling this the world's tallest wooden roller coaster. Currently, this record is held by T Express at Everland in South Korea and Wildfire at Kolmården in Sweden, both are 56 metres (183.8 ft) tall. However, the use of full steel track will prevent Zadra from claiming that title.

There will be two trains with six cars each, 12 rows of 2 people across, seating 24 people in total.

Energylandia is located near the town of Zator, less than half an hour drive from Kraków. It has planned a series of six new development stages for the coming years covering an area of 150 hectares. Among the impressive investments will include another record breaking roller coaster, currently due in 2022.

This year the park launched Europe's second tallest and fastest roller coaster, Hyperion.
