Europa-Park is set to expand its overnight offerings once again. Following a record-breaking season with over seven million visitors, the resort has unveiled plans for a major new hotel project located directly next to the Rulantica water park.

As the demand for multi-day stays continues to rise at Germany's largest theme park resort, management is moving forward with a proposal for a new themed hotel.

The project is slated for a 1.37-hectare site north of the Rulantica water park and the existing Hotel Krønasår.

What We Know So Far

The proposed hotel is expected to offer up to 350 rooms, significantly boosting the resort’s capacity. Staying true to the immersive storytelling of the Rulantica precinct, the new building will feature a Nordic architectural style, seamlessly blending in with the 'Museum of Natural History' theme of Krønasår and the Scandinavian vibes of the water park.

To support the influx of guests, the project also includes:

  • A New Parking Deck: Designed to manage increased traffic specifically around the Rulantica area.
  • Staff Housing: A key prerequisite for the project is the development of new accommodations for the hundreds of additional employees needed to run the facility.

Strategic Timing

In an interview with EuroAmusement Professional, Michael Kreft von Byern, Director of Rulantica, emphasized that the project is currently in the planning and permit phase.

"First of all, we want to initiate the planning procedure so that – should we decide to proceed with the hotel development – implementation can follow accordingly," he explained. He noted that with so many projects in the pipeline, the resort is focused on "demand-oriented" growth to ensure the timing of the opening matches the market's needs.

A Growing Resort

This new development would mark the eighth major themed hotel at the Europa-Park Resort. It follows a prestigious range of accommodations including El Andaluz, Castillo Alcazar, Colosseo, Santa Isabel, Bell Rock, and Krønasår.

The announcement comes at a busy time for the resort, which is also preparing to debut the Riverside Western Lodge in its Silver Lake City camp resort area soon.

Experience the Magic Now

While the new hotel is still in its early stages, visitors to Rulantica can currently enjoy the 'Nordic Lichterfest' (Nordic Festival of Lights), which runs until March 27. The event has already been hailed as a major success, offering magical light displays and a unique atmosphere for evening swimmers.
